The 1st official meeting of our Parents' Prayer Group will be held on Monday, March 19 from 9:15-10:30am. We will meet weekly on Mondays in the Nursery so that younger children can attend with their parents, too. We will offer coffee, tea, and prayerful time together. Invite friends and their kids! The EAP UMC Commission on Religion and Race is sponsoring a bus trip to the National Mall in Washington, DC on Wednesday April 4, from 9am-4pm. this rally is scheduled to occur exactly 50 years to the day after the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The purpose of this trip is to stand in solidarity with others as a strong witness fo ending racism. This #rally2endracism is the launch of a comprehensive, multi-year program to address racism in our nation. We invite you to consider being a part of this initiative. Have you ever wondered: Why did Jesus die?  Did Jesus have to die? Does Jesus (or God) save us? If so, what do we need to be saved from and how does salvation "work"? What, if anything, does the cross have to do with it? What's the result of salvation? What does it look and feel like? What's our role in it? We'll dive headlong into these questions in Lent and hopefully figure out not only what we don't believe but also become better able to articulate what we do believe.

On Friday March 23, beginning with a potluck meal at 6pm, the Grandview Readers will discuss Living Into Hope: A Call for Spiritual Action for Such a Time as This by Joan Brown Campbell. Drawing on her amazing life experiences, The Rev. Dr. Campbell speaks out on the pressing issues that face us today: love, justice, reconciliation, forgiveness and community. Proposing that "Who is my neighbor?" may be the most crucial question in a world where so many are hurting, she calls us to live life fully - not carefully or cautiously, but wholly engaged with the world and with the messiness of humanity.

Grandview Connections (GC) is a blog for discussing the weekly sermon content thus making connections between the pastors' words and the thoughts, feelings and actions of Grandview UMC members and friends.  The sermon is a starting point for what can be a very rich discussion about faith and will serve as a source for reflection and a building block for an online faith community that is available at any time. They are valuable to Red Bird Mission and Clinic in Kentucky, a special ministry of the United Methodist Church, serving four counties in the isolated rural distressed Appalachian Mountains. Place your boxtops and labels in the marked cupboard in the back of the Sanctuary. Please note that we must have the UPC code attached to the labels to receive the points.
